Terms and refunds

Last updated: October 2026

These are the terms for Advanced Film Financing, the live course Stephen Follows and Phil Hunt are running on Zoom in January 2027. Film Business School is run by Erroneous Wit Limited, and that's who you're buying from (the details are further down this page).

Can I get a refund?

  • If you change your mind within 14 days of buying, just email [email protected] for a full refund, whatever you've opened or joined.
  • After the first 14 days, you get a full refund if you haven't opened any of the material or joined a session. If you've opened some of the material but haven't joined a session, you get 50% back. Once you've joined or watched a live session, we can't offer a refund.
  • If something goes wrong on our side, we'll refund you whatever has happened.

These rules are the same whether you buy for yourself or through your company.

How do I cancel, and how is the refund paid?

Email [email protected], ideally from the address you bought with. You don't need to give a reason.

Any refund is paid within 14 days of your email, the same way you paid, and there's no fee for it.

What am I buying?

  • Six live sessions on Zoom, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28 January 2027, at 4pm UK, 90 minutes each.
  • Every session is recorded, and the recordings are kept for the class to refer back to for 12 months.
  • Also included: the workbooks and templates from the practicals, The Long Dark (opened up, with its documents filled in), Foundations: Fund Your Film as reference (it opens to you by the end of November), the recording of the free webinar, and an informal, private get-together with Stephen and Phil in Berlin during the European Film Market on Friday 12 February 2027 (travel isn't included).
  • The course page has the full details.
  • The price is US$1,000, or the lower price shown at checkout if you bought through an offer link. Prices include any VAT due, and you pay in full when you buy.
  • Enrolment closes at 23:59 UK on Friday 8 January 2027.
  • The dates are fixed, and the course runs on them however many people join. Session titles may still be refined.
  • What's not included: introductions to investors, access to money, or the deal paper the course is built from. Nothing in the course is advice, a valuation or an offer of finance.
  • Every figure comes with its source, its sample and a date, so you know how current it is.

How is the contract made?

You can check and correct your details on the checkout page before you pay. The contract is made, in English, when your payment goes through, and your receipt and welcome email confirm it straight away. We keep a record of your order, but not a separate copy of these terms for each one, so please save or print this page if you'd like a copy.

Your legal right to cancel

If you buy as a consumer, UK law (the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013) gives you the right to cancel within 14 days of the day you buy, without giving any reason.

To cancel, tell us clearly that you're cancelling, by email to [email protected] or by post to the address below. You can use the model cancellation form at the bottom of this page, but you don't have to. It's enough to send your message before the 14 days are up.

If you cancel, we'll refund everything you've paid, without undue delay and no later than 14 days after the day you tell us. We'll use the same way you paid, unless you expressly agree otherwise, and you won't pay any fee for the refund.

Our 14-day full refund above already gives you all of this, whatever you've opened or joined. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
